Computer science class continues to be painful. In fact, it's not just painful, but outright wrong. There was a question on a quiz we took last week that read "Which of these is not magnetic storage?" with possible answers of tape, hard disk, DVD, and floppy disk. I picked the correct answer (uh, duh, it's DVD, which is OPTICAL storage), but it was marked wrong. I brought this to the professor's attention, and another student in the class pointed out the exact sentence in the text that read "Tape, hard disk, and floppy disks are types of magnetic storage." The professor waffled on whether DVD was the correct answer, but said that she would give us credit for the answer if it was marked wrong.
I also spent much of my computer science class (as I usually spend my econ and math classes) doing the homework for next class. It's great and all that I don't have to work very hard to get a good grade, but I'd like to be learning something worth my time and money. As my mom said, though, I put in plenty of hard time before this, and I should look at this as a bit of a reward for all my hard work.
Started the new job at B&N for reals on Monday. They think I'm great, because I pick things up quickly and already have the basic drink making knowledge so that I can make espresso beverages without much direction. And because of my years of retail/food experience, I started at a little more per hour than I expected, which is nice.
I took the night off from Chili's tonight because I anticipated much worse weather than what we're currently getting. I won't really know if it would have had an effect on my drive home until after 11, as that's when I would have been coming home.
I heart Mike Rowe for always. The only issue I have is that about half of the time I find his "Please, come up with ideas for us!" funny, and the other half, I think things like, "Well, if you didn't waste three or four jobs in one show, you could stretch what you've got much longer!"
I have been having trouble with my Netflix queue lately. I add movies because they sound like a good idea, but when I have a long week of work, class, homework, etc, all I want to watch is something mindless, stupid, and funny. So all these dramas that sound really great end up sitting on the counter while I watch repeats of Family Guy or Charmed. I just don't have the concentration or willpower that it takes to watch an intelligent, dramatic movie. Which irritates me to no end.
Anywho, The Office (U.S. style) is on, I'm going to be mindlessly entertained for a while.
