Apr. 11th, 2008 10:12 amHere's a Liam-style post for you, if there ever was one.
1. Entertaining conversation I had at work the other day with one of the hostesses.
Hostess: Spontanuity.
Me: Spontaneity?
Hostess: Is that how you say it?
Me: Yes. Spontaunity would be a combination of spontaneity and continuity. And that would be the state of being continuously spontaneous. By definition, that's not possible, because if you're continuously spontaneous, you're not really spontaneous at all, are you?
Hostess: (blank stare)
2. For the embroidery geeks out there, check these links. This photographer spent years traveling the world, photographing and collecting embroidered objects. I heard about it on NPR, and had to look for myself. It's cool stuff, and if you have a few thousand dollars just lying around, it's up for auction on Christie's.

3. So I got grades back on the tests from last week. The marketing test I thought I bombed, I got 100 on, and quant business analysis was a 97 while microeconomics topped it all with a 108. Good to know I am not studying my ass off for nothing.
4. Speaking of my ass, I have gained a significant amount of weight since this time last year. I really need to get in gear and knock some of that off and get my body looking a little better. To that point, I have vowed no beer, pizza, chinese food, or fried food until I get to the first loss mark I've set. And Mike and I are joining a gym, even if I have to drag him there (he wants to, he's just not good about actually doing it).
5. I had an appointment with my orthopaedic surgeon yesterday. He's pretty dreamy looking, and was willing to talk through courses of treatment with me, including my input in what we're going to do. We decided on physical therapy for six weeks, with an MRI thrown in for good measure, and after the six weeks I'll go back to him and see if things are better, the same, or worse. If they're worse, we outlined a plan with the next couple steps for treatment, the final step being surgery. If so, I'll be seeking out a certain New Jerseyer (Jerseyite? Jerseyan?) who just had his back surgery for advice.
6. The semester is over in about a month. There is no way I have time to finish all the shit I need to get done in that time. I kind of want to vomit. Then again, that might help the weight issues. KIDDING! Sick sense of humor, remember?
7. Mike is going home next weekend, and I can't (I have to work Friday and Saturday), so if anyone wants to come keep me company Saturday night or Sunday during the day (crafty day of goodness, anyone?), I'm open to ideas at home or on the town. Seeing as I commute 45 miles each way to school four days a week, I probably don't want to go anywhere far, but if you want to bring over movies, games, crafts, or any other manner of entertainment (male strippers are probably not allowed), that would be pretty sweet.
8. There is no spoon.
9. Does it only become a Liam post when people get tired of reading and give up after half the numbered list? This is probably a long shot, but if anyone has any lines on marketing internships (preferably paid, because then I could do more hours, but unpaid would be acceptable), I would be wildly appreciative. If unpaid, I could probably only work one day a week during the school year, paid I could work two full weekdays (I have two days with no class). Within a half hour or so of Worcester is preferable, paid I would be willing to go a little further.
10. Classes for summer and fall:
Summer session 1 -
Mkt 315 - Marketing Creativity - MW 3-6pm
Fall 08 -
Acct 201 - Principles of Accounting - MW 2-3:20
CIS 352 - Management Information Systems - M 6-8:50
Econ 215 - Principles of Macroeconomics - MR 12:30-1:50
Math 238 - Quantitative Business Analysis II - MW 11-12:20
Mgmt 301 - Foundations of Management - MW 4-5:20
So if you don't feel like adding that up, this equates to me being in class Monday from 11 am to 8:50 pm (straight through), no class Tuesday, Wednesday class from 11 am to 5:20 pm (with a break from 12:20 to 2, which will probably be used for AMA meetings), Thursday 12:30 to 1:50, and Friday off. It's going to be a challenge. I'll probably work at Chili's Wednesday and Thursday, and B&N Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Unless, of course, I get a sweet internship, in which case Chili's gets Wednesday, B&N gets Thursday and Saturday, and a $$$ internship can have Tuesday and Friday. It's going to be an exhausting semester.
11. I'm going to fold laundry and take a nap.
