Dec. 3rd, 2008 07:05 pmI know most of you have seen this, so feel free to skip over, but every extra person counts.
For those of you who haven't seen this, my dad is doing the Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics. Those of you who know my dad know how passionate he is about....well, everything.
Those of you who don't know him, should know this. He is particularly passionate about fundraising and volunteering, which you may have seen through his many community activities. He's built houses with Habitat for Humanity, he's been the National Honor Society advisor for two different schools, and volunteered in any capacity needed with the Special Olympics. He has gotten countless high schoolers, notorious for not caring about anything, involved in community service projects. He's one motivated guy.
So when he decides to jump into the chilly waters of Lake George to raise money for Special Olympics, the least I can do is step up to help him raise some money. While I don't necessarily have oodles of money hanging around to donate, I do have yarn. And time (or I will, when the semester is over). So this is what I propose.
You. Yes, you. If you donate to the Polar Plunge, I will knit you something. Cold feet? Ears feeling a little chilly? Can't feel your hands? I'm here for you. So if you comment here (or e-mail me) after you donate, we can work something out.
Here's his plea in its original form:
Buon Giorno, you lucky people!
As many of you know, on Dec. 13, I will go swimming in Lake George to raise money for Special Olympics New York.
This will be the fifth time I have done it, and combining plunges with benefit walks, I have raised more than $5,000 for Special Olympics.
I have been around Special Olympics since high school, and I am really passionate about it.
I know times are tough, but I would appreciate any help you can give.
The link to donate online is: http://polarplunge.kintera.org/lakegeorge/billtoscano
If you want to send a check, please make it out to Special Olympics New York with my name in the memo line and send it to:
Bill Toscano
PO Box 176
Salem, NY 12865.
If you have already donated, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Also, please feel free to pass this along to friends, family and others.
In service,
Bill/Liam
